Mothers Are Special

Mother's Day is a special day to celebrate a very special person in each of our lives, our mother!

"We know moms are special. Mother's Day is celebrated in different countries and cultures to honor the selflessness and love of mothers since 1900s. The American incarnation of Mother's Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908...."

The traditional Mother's Day flower is the pink carnation to honor mothers who are living, and a white carnation represents mothers who have passed away. (I can still remember going to church on Mother's Day when I was little, all dressed up in my Sunday best including my hat and white gloves, and a pretty little corsage with a pink flower.)

A gift of flowers for Mother's Day can be any colorful bouquet of flowers, including spring flowers like daffodils which represent joy and happiness.

Some special Mother's Day quotes:

"God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers."
-Jewish Proverb

"All mothers are working mothers."
-Author Unknown

"A man's work is from sun to sun, but a mother's work is never done."
-Author Unknown

"A  mother who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie."
-Tenneva Jordan

Humorous quote:

"Insanity is hereditary. You can get it from your children."
-Sam Levenson

A wonderful website for all things Mother's Day is:

Here is an excerpt from that site:

                     "A Mother"
"When you're a child she walks before you,
To set an example.
When you're a teenager she walks behind you,
To be there should you need her.
When you're an adult she walks beside you
So that as two friends you can enjoy life

The site also has Mother's Day gifts, recipes, games, crafts, articles, etc.

Greg and I wish all mothers everywhere a wonderful Mother's Day, with a special Mother's Day wish to our own special mothers and grandmothers who are in spirit.

"Mother, the ribbons of your love are woven around my heart."
-Author Unknown

Positive Thought: "Mom, when thoughts of you are in our hearts, we are never far from home."-Author Unknown
Thanks for visiting! Until next Sunday or Monday, Becky
