Silhouettes

Welcome!

(I'm happy!  I have been experiencing technical difficulties with my blog, but as you can see, I finally got them figured out.  I'm a few days late, but better late than not at all.  I'm proud of myself, for I am not technically inclined.  I'll, hopefully, be back with another blog post around Sunday, December 9.  Thanks, Becky)

According to Webster's New World Dictionary, a silhouette is "a solid, usually black, outline drawing, esp. a profile" or is "any dark shape seen against a light background."

Silhouettes have always fascinated me.  When I was younger, I used to admire the paintings of an artist in Southwest Virginia who painted black scenes against colored backgrounds.

Later, I learned to cut silhouettes of people's profiles out of black paper which I attached to lighter backgrounds.  These would look nice in black frames to display on the wall.

An easy way to have silhouettes is to take pictures of objects against the sky.  The best times to do this is usually either in the morning around sunrise or late in the day around sunset.

Here are a few silhouette photos that I took-

Can you find the squirrel hidden in this photo?

To me, this robin silhouetted against the late autumn sky symbolises the promise spring returning every year at its appointed time.

Positive thought:  Set happiness as a top priority.  Focus on doing things that make you feel truly happy.

A Great Way to Be Happier and More Positive

Welcome!

Want to be happier and more positive?  One of the best ways, in my opinion, is to be as healthy as possible.

Recently, Greg and I have had a really hard-to-get-rid-of virus that has been going around in our area.  We usually don't catch anything.  Why, then, did we get sick?  We evaluated the situation.  We try to eat right, drink adequate water, etc., but, we decided, we're just not getting enough rest or sleep (even though getting enough sleep was my new year's resolulution!).

However, we now have the situation under much better control.  The past couple of weeks, we have been getting a lot more sleep and are not pushing ourselves so hard.  We even decided to get tuned up by our health care provider.

Now, we're on the mend.  We feel so much better, and we made the decision never to go back to our old way of living.  We now prioritize our to-do lists.  And, if something didn't get done that day, that's OK.  There's always tomorrow.  Like Scarlett O'Hara says in Gone with the Wind, "Tomorrow is another day."

We're starting to feel so much happier and more positive now that we're putting our health as a top priority!

Positive thought:  Wishing everyone good health, happiness, and a positive life.  Happy Thanksgiving!

A Fall Wedding

Welcome!

"Once in a while,
Right in the middle of an ordinary life,
Love gives us a fairy tale."
-Anonymous

Traditionally, when one thinks of weddings, the June bride comes to mind.  However, nowadays, more and more couples are having weddings any time during the year, and fall is certainly no exception.

Recently, Greg and I recently attended a lovely fall wedding that we'd like to share with you in pictures.

At the reception, the beautiful song, "It's a Wonderful World" sung by Louis Armstrong, played softly in the background.  Yes, for all of us who attended this lovely fall wedding, it did indeed seem like a wonderful world.

And, for this couple and for most couples on their special day, this was, no doubt, like a fairy tale come true.

Personal note:  My brother and his wife, my cousin and his wife, and Greg and I all got married the same year and are all still married to the same spouse.  Now, that's what I call a very good year!

Positive thought:  "True love stories never have endings."

Puckett's Boat House, Franklin, Tennessee

Welcome!

Greg, some relatives, and I recently visited a new restaurant in Franklin, Tennessee, Puckett's Boat House.  It was great!  I've written about two other Puckett restaurants on previous blog posts.  They each seem to have a nice atmosphere, a friendly staff, and really good food!

As you might guess, from the name of the restaurant, the emphasis is on fish, although they also have other items on the menu such as hamburgers and chicken.

Greg and I had the catfish po boys.  Greg enjoyed fries while I selected the garlic new potatoes.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here's a brief tour of Puckett's Boat House, in pictures-
