The Homestead Shoppe and Irene's Back Porch

Welcome!

Today, I'd like to tell you about a place that I'm excited about.  It's called the Homestead Shoppe.  The owner is Scott Taylor.  He told me there are over 90 quality dealers with over 150 booths in his large building.  These dealers have antiques, collectibles, and home decor for sale.

There is something at The Homestead Shoppe for every taste and budget.  This is my kind of place.  What a way to spend the whole day just browsing and shopping!  Does that sound like fun, or what?

And, that's not all!  When it's time to take a break from all that shopping, there's a great little place for a meal or a snack that's right inside The Homestead Shoppe.  It's called Irene's Back Porch, all decked out with lovely country decor.  If you want "down home," and country cookin', this place is it!

There are tasty entrees like meat loaf, and country sides like cornbread salad and soup beans.  What about a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich?  The dessert might be carrot cake, a cobbler, or chocolate pie.  (The menu varies daily.)

                                                                           Hoecake

The day we were there, Greg had a cheeseburger with potato chips, and I chose the chicken salad croissant with cole slaw and cheesy potatoes.  In addition, each of us was presented with their famous fried hoecakes with butter.

                                                         Chicken and Dumplings

After the meal, we told Irene Moody, the owner/cook how much we'd enjoyed everything.  She then suggested that we really needed to try their signature dish, chicken and dumplings, which she brought out for us to sample.  Neither of us has ever liked chicken and dumplings, but we both agreed that this was delicious!

After all this food, we didn't even have room for dessert.  Just like it says in their ad, "Nobody leaves Momma's kitchen table hungry."
