Special Days

During the last few weeks, we have been busy doing different things, going different places. We had some really special days.

On Saturday, we had a yard (but mostly an inside-the-cabin) sale since it was rather cool.

We did really well for this time of year. We met some nice people, and we also reconnected with others that had been to our previous yard sales.

Another day, we enjoyed the warm fall sunshine on the pretty Virginia Creeper Trail which starts in Abingdon.

Yet another time, we met Mike and Betty at the Muster Grounds in Abingdon where we walked and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. It is a Revolutionary War site.

Some people dressed in Revolutionary period attire had a meeting there.

After the Muster Grounds, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Luke's Cafe in Abingdon.

So good!

Greg and I had been working pretty hard on our semi-fixer-upper house and our business projects, so we decided to take a bigger break and go on a little trip to the beautiful Kodak/Sevierville/Pigeon Forge part of East Tennessee

A nice-looking dog was on its way there, as well!

Our first stop was the Great Smokies Flea Market in Kodak.

While there, we saw something really cute in one of the booths, Sugar Glider Alley-

It was a sugar glider!

This little fellow can be yours for $300.00. I'd save up my money and get one, but I don't think that would be very wise since we already have two cats.

Lunch was next on the agenda.

As we drove by, we spotted Tony Roma's Smoky Mountain BBQ & Grill in Pigeon Forge. We decided to stop since Greg loves barbeque. We're glad we did because the food was excellent! We enjoyed our food outside since it was such a nice day.

We went farther into Pigeon Forge, to the Old Mill shops and restaurants. First, we stopped at the Creamery and had ice cream for our dessert. We then explored a few shops and...

enjoyed the beautiful scenery around the Old Mill.

It was time to leave, but we really enjoyed our special day in East Tennessee, and vowed to return again soon to further explore this fascinating area.

We can still all have very special days despite all of the challenging, uncertain things going on around us right now. We just need to keep the faith, and to keep our President, our country, our world, our loved ones, and ourselves in our (positive) thoughts and prayers for an even brighter future.

A Celebration in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Welcome!

In February, Greg and I met some family members in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to celebrate Cousin Bruce's birthday, as well as mine. It was a fun time for us all to get together. And who wouldn't have fun in Pigeon Forge!

We met at The Pottery House Cafe and Grille which is a wonderful place to eat. In fact, it's the number two restaurant out of 109 in Pigeon Forge according to TripAdvsor! And, it's reasonably priced!

The food was great! It was served on pottery dishes.

After the main meal, we all indulged in what else, birthday cake! They let you BYOC (bring your own cake) to celebrate birthdays.

Visit to a Tennessee Resort

Welcome!

Just recently several of us visited a really beautiful resort in the "Great Smoky Mountains" of East Tennessee, Dollywood's DreamMore Resort and Spa in Pigeon Forge, near Gatlinburg.

The resort is very spacious with a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, two restaurants, and more. It even received a "Certificate of Excellence" from "TripAdvisor."

It is beautifully decorated with many unique touches.

This is not a view of the outside, but a fascinating, ever-changing landscape on the wall!

We thoroughly enjoyed touring the resort-

This was a really interesting area featuring pictures of  Dolly Parton.

Sittin' pretty-

Some of us were having way too much fun!

Our main objective besides touring the resort was to dine at the resort's "Song & Hearth: A Southern Eatery."

We really enjoyed the all-you-can-eat dinner buffet. It was in a word, delicious!

We left happy and planned to return, to maybe spend the night, and certainly to again enjoy the wonderful culinary delights of this fabulous "southern eatery."

The Christmas Spirit Every Day

Welcome!

"I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year."
-Charles Dickens

Remember how you felt last month during the Christmas season, all happy, friendly, and giving, wanting to be nice and to help you fellow man? You might have even felt buoyant, lighthearted. If you did feel this way, it's because you had the Christmas spirit.

Wouldn't you like to feel this way most or even all of the time?

I know how you might get that feeling back, or to get it in the first place if you never got it last year or ever.

It's easy. Just go to The Inn at Christmas Place in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee!

Greg and I were there a few days ago, and I still feel like I'm under its charming spell!

What's not to love about this place?

It's the number one hotel in Pigeon Forge according to "TripAdvisor."

It also got a "Certificate of Excellence" from "TripAdvisor."

It won the "Travelers Choice Awards" in 2011, 2012, and 2014.

It was also the winner, "Top 25 U.S. Hotels."

It's reasonably priced, as well!

Also, the people who work there seem to have the Christmas spirit, as they are personable  and helpful.

Take a look for yourself-

This is how it looked when we arrived at the back entrance. There were Christmas lights everywhere.

A large beautiful Christmas tree greets you in the lobby.

I almost felt like a child again, standing here with Santa and one of his reindeer.

There were manger scenes...

and snow scenes.

There was a small Christmas tree with deer atop the TV in our room with a lovely fireplace DVD that also had beautiful (what else?) Christmas music playing in the background.

The next morning, we enjoyed a large tasty breakfast buffet in the dining room to the sounds of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers singing Christmas songs.

After breakfast, we made our way to the The Incredible Christmas Place across the street which is a really neat place to shop for all things Christmas.

We really enjoyed our trip to Pigeon Forge which, along with Sevierville, and Gatlinburg, celebrates Winterfest all winter long!

A Fun-Filled Day in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Welcome!

Wow!  I've missed being here with you every week, but I've been very busy with my other projects.  Hopefully, soon, I'll get to visit with you more often.

Even though we've been busy, Greg and I have taken off some time just to be together and to have fun.

Just recently, we got to visit one of our favorite places, Pigeon Forge, in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee.  It is a fun place, and our day there was fun-filled.

We decided to go to "The Island" in Pigeon Forge since we'd never been there before.

"The Island" has shops...

entertainment...

fun rides...

and restaurants, like Paula Deen's brand new restaurant!

Of course, we just had to go there and try it out!

While waiting for our table, we enjoyed looking around Paula's wonderful large gift shop where we bought a couple of souvenirs.

We also made friends with a cute little fellow named Prince Charming, which he was.

From the gift shop, we rode the escalator to the second floor to the restaurant part.  From there, you can get a grand view of the beautiful Smokey Mountains in the distance.

We ordered our meal which was served family style.  To say it was delicious is an understatement.  It was all so good, we could't decide which thing was our favorite.

Yum!

While words can't really describe our meal...

Greg's face says it all-one happy, satisfied customer!

Since Paula wasn't there in person, I was satisfied just having my picture taken with this life-like cardboard copy of her.

However, if she had been there, I'd have told her that we'd thoroughly enjoyed our visit and down-home gourmet meal, and that we'd tell others about our fun-filled adventure to "The Island," and especially to "Paula Deen's Family Kitchen" in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee!
