Miss Bea's, A Neat Place to Be in East Tennessee!

Welcome!

A couple of months ago, Greg and I decided to visit a really neat place in East Tennessee, Miss Bea's Perks and Pies, in Rogersville, and we're glad we did!

We first became aware of Miss Bea's when we read about it in the "Tennessee Magazine."  We were very impressed when we learned that various years it has been voted both the "Best Desserts in East Tennessee" and the "Best Bakery in East Tennessee."

The decor is attractive-

In addition to having fresh baked goods, they also serve breakfast and lunch.

We were there for lunch, and we really enjoyed our food.

This is a hearty, man-sized meat and potatoes lunch that Greg just loved!

This soup and chicken salad croissant were perfect for me.

But, to top it all off, we just had to try a couple of Miss Bea's bakery items which were superb!

Some other food items include stratas, paninis, salads, and even Belgian waffles!

Miss Bea's is also a coffee shop, and they cater.

(For more info, see F.Y.I. below.)

Hats off to owners, Mike and Connie Reeves, for having such a great place to eat in East Tennessee!

Bell Buckle Cafe, Bell Buckle, Tennessee

I really can't say enough good things about the Bell Buckle Café in Bell Buckle, Tennessee (which is walking horse country).  It is superb!  We first found out about it in the Tennessee Magazine.  In the issue we read, it was voted the Best of Tennessee 2012 "Home/Country Cooking" in Middle Tennessee.

The Bell Buckle Café has a down-home atmosphere.

Signed photos of country-music celebrities line several of the walls.

This country décor sets the stage for the mouth-watering food that is served there.  (Our food was served by Renee, who did a great job.)

They have some unusual desserts that you don't find anywhere else.  For instance, they have homemade grits cake with strawberries and whipped cream, Moon Pie sundaes with vanilla ice cream, and chocolate cobbler (that I overheard one woman say was great which I don't doubt for a minute!) to mention a few.

Bell Buckle Café and the town of Bell Buckle of around 450 people are closely intertwined.  As we were waiting for a table in the café during prime time, we visited some of the interesting little shops (You don't mind waiting, as the time just seems to fly by since you're enjoying the shops so much!).

After we finished eating, we visited a few more shops, like the Doodle Bug Too which has handbags and jewelry and Perfectly Painted which has, among other things, a really cute resident dog named Bugzy.

                                                                  Bugzy

The items in these shops are good quality, and are very reasonably priced!  (I bought a pair of earrings, necklace, and bracelet, all for $12.00 plus tax, and they are lovely.)

We are going back to this wonderful little community again to visit more shops, and to the Bell Buckle Café to try their fried biscuits with homemade apple butter.  Yum!  Sounds like a plan!

Miller's Grocery Is a Winner

Welcome!

Greg and I recently took a trip to Christiana, Tennessee where we enjoyed a delicious meal at Miller's Grocery.  Originally, it was a grocery store, but it is now a country cafe.  It has served the railroad community for over 75 years.  We first found out about Miller's Grocery when they were selling food at a festival that we attended last fall.

Miller's Grocery has a distressed, rustic look both inside and out.

We were there on a Sunday when they have their buffet.  And, what a feast it was!  We certainly didn't leave there hungry!

We loved the salads,

the breads,

the main dishes,

 and especially the desserts.

In fact, Miller's Grocery was Tennessee Magazine 's  winner for best "place for dessert" in Middle Tennessee for 2012.

Anna, who served our drinks, took our picture, since we were celebrating my birthday.  (We'll celebrate my special day with other family members later this month.)

We plan to go back on a weekend night when we can enjoy special live musical entertainment while we dine.
